미국 국기인 성조기는 

어떠한 의미를 가지고 있는지 

혹시 아시나요?

먼저 미국 성조기는 

'오랜 영광'이라는 의미를 가지고 있습니다.

미국의 국기는 1777년에

영국 국기인 유니온 잭의 왼쪽 상단을 본뜬 

파란 바탕에 13개의 식민지를 상징하는 13개의 흰색 별을 

표시하며 이 이후부터 미국을 대표하는 성조기가 되었습니다. 

이후 1795년에 새롭게 편입된 버몬트와 켄터키를 새롭게 국기에 반영하면서

이 국기를 바탕으로 1814년 9월 13일 메릴랜드 볼티모어에서

프랜시스 스코트 키(Francis Scott Key)에 의해서 

'성조기여 영원하라' 라는 국가가 다음과 같이 완성되었습니다. 

' The Star-Spangled Banner'-National Anthem

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
